My life mission has been the safety and well being of my community. As a
way to express my appreciation for
the services the local firefighters provided my family during recent emergencies
here in Hercules, I volunteered to be on
the Fire District Board in 2008.
I
am grateful to use my leadership experiences as a former city commissioner,
board member of the Hercules Library Foundation,
officer of the Friends of the
Hercules Library and author of multiple California Technology
grants in order to now serve with the dedicated R.H.F.D. team sharing the same
mission.

For my volunteer involvement with service agencies such as local hospitals, I
received the Citizen of the Year Award in Hercules in 2011.
Currently the R.H.F.D.
Board Chairperson, I am delighted to have helped prepare the user-friendly
documents describing the district’s vision,
operations, finances and
relationships with
other agencies. These booklets are available in the firehouse office.

With the collaborative efforts of my fellow Board Members, the staff and the
crews we reached the challenging goal of
financial stabilization of our budget through cost reductions
and acquisitions of additional revenues.

I have strived to foster effective management practices to acquire new
state-of-the-art response equipment,
advanced personnel training and creation of a five year strategic plan.

I hold it
as an honor to serve the Hercules/Rodeo community in helping to deliver the best
possible EMS and
fire department services.
